Hi everyone, sorry for the rookie question. I know there's a ton of threads on this but haven't found one specific to this location at a weld spot (both sides, next to the suspension). First truck and bought it used with 110km. Used mainly in the PNW with little salt. It's had it's anti-corrosion treatment by Toyota. Just picked it up and noticed this rust - took it to Toyota and they scared the crap out of me. I tested it with a screw driver and it didn't go through. Assuming just surface rust and treat it with a converter and POR-15? Rest of the frame looks clean. Thanks in advance.

    This……

    That’s not an issue.
Just continue to keep the frame coated with a good rust inhibitor and you’ll be fine,

From the photos it looks like pretty minor surface rust. I like to coat the bottom of mine with fluid film around late fall. Fluid film inhibits existing rust and will provide some protection, just has to be applied every year.

I have heard POR-15 flakes off the underside of vehicles, but I haven’t tried it myself so I don’t have first hand experience with it.

....is that a hole in the crusty area on top of the frame beneath where the control arm secures to the frame? .
