(Solved) I recently installed an ARB air compressor under the hood. The issue I'm facing is that the backlighting is always on. I don't want any backlighting at all. How can I check which pin is for backlighting?

If I remember correctly, there are five connections on the back of that switch. Pull a colored wire one at a time and see which one kills the light. Make sure the wire you pull only kills the backlight not the entire switch. As in, if you pull the correct wire the backlight will not be on and the switch will still work to power on the unit. Basically you are chasing the backlight connection only.

Pins 6, 7, 8 are used only for switch lighting. I think all the stock ARB switches are lower independent so I think one of the 2 grounds (7, 8) completes the always-lit lower light and the other completes the upper "on" light.

Only 2 and 3 are needed to operate the compressor relay so 6, 7, 8 can always be omitted.

Solved. Thank you very much that fixed the issue. Number 8 for off backlighting and 7 on. I only removed the number 8. It won’t drain the battery when truck and compressor off.
