No go on the watershed lottery.
BIL was a no-go as well as another guy I know.

Wife got her permit so all is not lost. She can sit at my spot,lol.

Has anyone ever thrown an appropriate amount of stew meat into a crockpot for a roast? I have a couple pounds from this hindquarter and we typically only do shoulder roast, but I'm thinking of Frankensteining this for a Mississippi roast

yes,ive done that, will work fine. i chunk scrap pieces into stew meat. can use it for roast deer,shred it for deer bbq or make deer beef stew(my favorite)all in a crock pot.

 

I pic alot during the season with the youngins,like to keep hunting fun. this year i would say where you gonna sit. well hell, you can carry my gun thumper so you dont have to track em all over the mountain.they drop at the shot. hehehe. so my son made these stickers for me for a Christmas present for my 45-70. I Loved It.

 

My first head shot Wednesday before Christmas-it was 12yd shot in top of head out somewhere on opposite side
Also zero tracking!! I couldn’t bring myself to even look at exit but sure made for a clean gut session.

 

Roasted off the first leg Bone then made a stock, and cut up and onion, 2 russet potatoes, and a handful of sliced mushrooms along side a few pieces of my salt cured deer ham (since there was only like 6 bites of meat left on the bone), and it paired nicely with some homemade cornbread. This was my first deer stock, and it's good enough that I'll probably make a "scrap" soup the next time I break hindquarters down

 

Isnt that called cowboy stew? Looks good
