At the end of the day it's a Toyota and it will hold its value. The domestic trucks are very appealing given the power they offer however we've never had good luck with GM products.

I think “it’s a Toyota” ended sometime in 2020 when Toyota decided to copy everyone else and go with complicated powertrains and excessive msrps

3rd gen will outlast every other brand of midsize truck over the next 20 years I believe mostly to its d4s dual injection fuel system

I would say this is true in particular for the 4 bangers. Gen 4 … well I don’t really see it holding its “value” relative to its msrp. Where as the gen 3 will be bolstered by the fact that a loaded gen 4 OR is mid 50k which is more than a pro cost in gen 3. Yea it has more features blah blah.

But unless the vast majority of people got that much richer … the new gen seems out of touch. Tacoma always presented a great value … I got my pro over a gladiator because an Equally equipped gladiator was 15k more … not so much anymore

Jan 22-26, 2024 is the delivery date I have been just given today. I'm in southern Ontario, Canada. Its been on order since June. I'm trading in my 23 Taco DCLB TRD sport for a Sport +. No pricing given yet so may walk away. I have a family discount, put on over 30,000 km/year and have been trading every 8 months or so lately.

So my truck has a 10/18/23 allocation, temporary VIN quit working 12/13, was told in production but is now showing as being built today 1/2, so should be here in a few weeks. A bit frustrating but is what it is.

The temporary VIN transitions to permanent VIN when the truck starts to be built? If the temp VIN doesn't work in the tracker, what's that mean? ( https://toyota-tracker.com/ ). I only have temp VIN from dealer, it's what's on the pdf sheet. I did ask last week about the VIN and why it doesn't track, he said that's all he's got, no other info. The temp VIN does work in the vehicle spec lookup, so I know it's real at least ( https://www.toyota.com/owners/vehicle-specification/ ).

Until you have a real VIN its not built. My temporary VIN quit working on the 13th, the truck originally was slated to be built Dec 18-24th which then became Jan 2-9th (when I reached out for the 100th time to my dealer) with transit slated next day, so supposedly my truck was in production this week built, shipping tomorrow by train. Until you have a real VIN whatever date they told you etc. is irrelvant as production changes in real time as Toyota is "just in time" manufacturing and completed once the real VIN is available and in transit.
