Brass wants us to fill out a third(3rd) timecard with our daily tasks split up. This is a pre-contract negotiation tactic. So we give them what they ask for, and lots of it. So much data its coming out their ears. Stick that in excel and chart it.

Bigger picture, the reason for them to dump so much money to these data gathering nonsense is to figure out how to control human labor with you know what.

We live in a capitalistic society here in the USA. It's good because we have freedoms here that cannot be found anywhere else. However, one of the bad parts of capitalism is every company has competition from another company. The "better" the "cheaper" the "more efficient" a company, the more they will produce and the more job security people have that work there. But, in order to become more efficient, you have to examine the day to day tasks of pretty much everyone and figure out how to make your product better, cheaper and more efficient!
I would love to tell you that it is Corporate BS, but unfortunately, if your company is not doing all they can to be better than the competition, you can bet your competition is doing all they can to steal sales away from your company.
When all this happens, does the "company" make more profits? Yes they do, but to most of them, their profits will go to improving their efficiency or buying new tooling and such.
It's not perfect, but it is still better than many countries that have government owned businesses.

The absolute key, and I mean a thin tightrope, is to find a way to get the data you need to improve as a company, without burdening the labor with too much reporting.
Believe it, management is always trying to find ways to make the A)Salesman B)Production Worker C)Office Staff D)Engineering E)Etc more productive. The worst thing thy can do is keep a person from doing a job because of paperwork.

The simple reason jobs went overseas to begin with was to reduce costs, either with labor or automation.

You can only sell a product or service at prices that the market will pay. If it costs too much to produce a product? You, as a company, either change or die. While there are some really fat cats out there (Bezos, Musk, Fortune 500 CEO's) the truth is that is a tiny percentage of the workforce. Most companies are not trying to increase dividends for their investors because most companies don't have investors. They are trying to survive.

    Here is a sobering stat:
    upload_2024-1-3_16-46-11.png
Sure, some people work at big companies (I do) but 90% of the businesses have less than 20 employees!

    Apparently I'm one of 5,961.

    All in one state.

My company is the only one to bid this current contract. That says a lot.

I'm being patient but I'm sniffing around.

We have 100 buildings. Only about 45 people in my building, though.

When comes to production costs, American companies are simply in disavantage versus the global businesses due to the required compliances by law that oversea companies don't have to commit.
That's one of the reason why BYD - a ROC EV company won the bid against Poterra
