    Near disaster..
While refilling the rear diff with those stupid quart lube containers that can’t handle a pump, using a short piece of vinyl tubing, the damn thing popped off and fell into the fill hole, shit!
Had nightmares wondering how I would get the 3” piece of tubing out or leaving in and have the diff explode if I couldn’t get it out!
Well, amazing enough with a little curved pick, I was able to grab it at the drain hole, whew!
    Yep, a dumb ass
Ya think the pinion and ring would have eaten it or pop the case?
    Let me know your guess

Thats a can of worms. This is when an inspection plate would have been nice.

The issue is the tube will grind up and eventually start to destroy the seals sooner.

Bigger problem is to remove it, you have to remove the 3rd member, which is a boat load of work.

Got the sucker out drain hole in one minute by draining with diff tilted
So lucky with the curved pick

    Reserected from the dead.
I'd not worry a bit. I'd run it for a year and do a drain and a proper fill.

That plastic tube isn't going damage anything. It's gonna be ground to nothing in 20 minutes.

You think that’s bad, try squeezing 85/140 through tubing.
Let me warn you, don’t go gorilla on it and squeeze it really hard trying to “speed up” the process.
The same thing happens, the tube blows off. Now you have gear oil all over the front left suspension components. Stinks for weeks.

    I know a guy that did that:anonymous:

This one guy I know did the same exact thing. Plastic tube fell in the fill hole from squeezing too hard on the bottle. He ended up just letting it ride till he pulled the 3rd member for a regear. This was about 30k miles later. Plastic tube was nowhere to be found. It was probably ground down to nothing over time. Didn't hurt anything. Often see that guy in the mirror around my house :anonymous:

I don’t have a guess, but I recommend the Valvoline squeeze bag:

    https://shop.valvolineglobal.com/products/flexfill-full-synthetic-gear-oil-sae-75w-90?variant=44420050190613&currency=USD&utm_agid=156350361838&creative=680413416178&device=c&placement=&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAnL-sBhBnEiwAJRGigvFGXXUc54lT0V2B9-mwWFOHXb1WZHZmgioWSobliiPE63-2sRz16RoCXnUQAvD_BwE

It’s much easier than standard bottles. I think Amsoil does the same thing. I used to use redline but went with Valvoline last change and they were get, except for the wind blowing a bag over, but that’s not the fault of Valvoline, that’s my dumb ass.

3" suspension lift, hard canopy, light bar in hood, ditch lights, aircraft cargo bars, powdercoated steel spares, desert tires, bed cargo bars (for rifle cases), misc interior doo-dads
I used ziploc bags full of diff oil during trail recoveries. the plastic is almost entirely gone by the time it gets home. just 2-3 tiny pieces of the closure left after less than 15 miles
    a plastic cap doesn't stand a chance

You had me crack up on that. Your not wrong on the smell either. I changed my fluids on my tcase and diffs not to long ago. I could smell the stench from my gear oil for a few weeks after i changed mine.
