What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Just got my guild plug set from the postman. Looking forward to install.

 

Oil change at 161000, and Greased the yoke on the drive shaft to fix the bumping when taking off and stopping.

Up next lower control arms then an alignment

Was curious what this was and now seeing it, I want it. My truck didn't come with an inverter so and always wanted something in the truck where I can power things when camping or maybe a portable air compressor.

**nevermind. I would need an inverter. Adding this project to the growing list of future mods.

changed my plugs.. driver side front had oil in it?? all the gaps were way out!!

 

How many miles on those plugs?? I bet it runs better now.

 

about 60K.. Just put them in, haven't drove anywhere yet.. lol

 

You probably have a leaky valve cover gasket (it also seals around the plug wells). If that had been inside your cylinder you would have surely gotten a CEL for a misfire.

edit: it also looks like the motor was running ever so slightly rich, which is normal for a factory tune. Mine looked like that at the second to last change. I got an aftermarket tune around 3 & 1/2 years ago. More power and better mpg. When I changed my plugs again last spring they looked better as well.

 

No codes popped.. before or after.. I should check my oil level again since I just did an oil change..

 

Yeah, that’s because it’s leaking down the well from the oil bathing your cams. You’ll not register such a small leak on the dip stick but it will eventually cause misfires either from fouling the coil or wicking down to the electrodes.

Install was fairly straightforward, harness made it nice and clean being pre-loomed and heat shrink'd at the ends. Just had to cut the included switch connector off and terminate the 3 wires to the stock style switch connections. Hardest part was getting the harness routed cleanly under the dash and over to the switch blank under the HVAC controls. Ended up fishing a coat hanger in from the switch opening and pulling it back through, worked slick.

Switch I used was the 'small' size for the ones down low instead of up to the left of the steering wheel. Felt pretty flimsy out of the package but it works fine and lights up blue when on. There's a bunch of similar ones on the jungle website if not through one of the taco vendors.

Been running the amber pro sae fogs in my relentless bumper for a couple years now and love 'em, wired into the OEM fog light switch.

 

New pads/rotors, JBA UCA, OEM LCA, sway bar links and bushings…..also lower shock bushings and some assorted new hardware due to a few issues encountered along the way.

 

Which rotors and pads do you go with?

 

Is that ‘bumping’ a sign of worn u-joints? My 4Runner does this but drives fine otherwise.
