Replacing dealer installed key lock/handle and I think the key assembly will be in the way of a new handle and camera.

Do I need the bottom half or was that part of the lock package? Have a lid on most of the time for some theft protection.

The bottom part is part of the package and definitely not needed. I replaced my factory handle with a popnlock with an aftermarket camera on my 05:

P&L 5500 $80 plus camera kit or Master Tailgater handle with camera for $86 and buy a $40 hinge lock? P&L video shows moving gasket from bottom of old handle to new. Did you do anything to block the two semi circles below the handle?

My tailgate handle is the popnlock that is coded with my truck key. I bought the master tailgater handle that came with the camera and I removed the camera and installed it on the popnlock handle. The camera is connected to my aftermarket radio and I also bought another camera for the front grille. Keep in mind that you can't buy an OEM camera for the newer tacomas from '09-up and think it's an easy hookup since the OEM camera uses 6 volts instead of 12V.

Which semi circles are you referring to since I don't recall mine having any openings to deal with? I went from a basic handle to the popnlock.
