it's gonna get taller, and require different oil pans, the front mounted rack of a second gen is in prime engine and front diff territory

    me too.

I've trail-failed enough LBJ's at this point I am holding off my (already designed) LT install because I will inevitably beat on it even more, and I already go too hard on it...

but I do love to get weird with stuff.

please note "has anyone done it yet" vs "is it possible?"

yeah the rear sump might be required with this change, maybe this is why I've only ever seen it done as a Cab swap/full custom.

I didn't need to modify the 2GR pan very much to fit the 1st gen engine bay... but I actually think that a tube/plate style subframe might be do-able without changing the sump, especially coupled with shifting the whole Driveline forward a little to match the outboard shift forward that has become pretty common in aftermarket arms.

Would you shrink the width to match a first gen as well, a normal long travel kit for a first gen is just an inch wider than a stock 2nd gen... it would get really wide for the same stock travel numbers if you didn't make widths match

this I haven't looked at much, but the steering rack length and ADD axle side length would be limiting factors for sure, I'm also confident both can be shortened

I'm also having this think because the BRAND NEW OEM rack I put in has more play than the old rack that survived a bad wreck, and when shifting the spindle forward relative to the inboard points, a lot of bumpsteer is induced with the stock anti-dive amount... so obviously converting the front end to some front side steering geo is the only solution/s

I'm not suggesting that you waste your time on it, but I wonder if you got a dud and if even a cheapo rebuild my help in the meantime. Could also rebuild it yourself I suppose... This is why I always have some junkyard ones on hand,

have you put in with Nat'l parks or remote Surveying jobs in geophysics?

I know looking at mapping data can get boring fast, but they usually take earth sciences people
