The previous owner of my Taco used double sided tape to affix plastic caps over the bed rails and the tail gate. This was to hide wear marks on the paint for a topper installed previously. I pulled them off when one side started to come off all on its own.

Now I have a mess of how knows how old double side tape to remove before I put on a new set of bed rail caps. I've tried denatured alcohol, mineral sprits and Turpenol. The alcohol seemed to work the best but even with that this will be an hours long project.

I'm sure someone has done this before, so what works?

Leveling kit, Cab clearance, currently in restoration.
I would just use a Rubber eraser wheel. Cheap and effective way to remove adhesive or vinyl stickers. Just don't be too aggressive in one area and burn the paint. You can buy them cheap on Amazon.

It ain't cheap, but has worked wonders for me in a few cases.

I have just ordered a rubber wheel off of Amazon. I'll let you all know how it worked. Thanks for the suggestions.

All those solvent's will strip paint/clear. Use the eraser wheel.

No one has mentioned acetone, it dissolves about any adhesive and won't ruin auto paints. Test it on a hidden area first, but it's always my goto for adhesives and other gunk. It also removes wax real well, great prep for paint touch ups.
