So, I have a 97 Tacoma and recently got a small utility trailer. I discovered the flat four pin trailer connector wasn't hooked up and am trying to figure out how to connect it. I have turn signals and running lights working with trailer, but no brake lights, wondering if I missed something.

Ok, will have to look into, had tried to avoid because I've seen lots of folks having problems with an adapter, is this one better/corrected?

I've had 3 of them across 3 trucks and have never had a problem. I have never heard of them having problems.

I've used that exact one and had it fail in about 3 years. The components inside the converter usually short out and start doing weird things with the running lights and brake lights.

The last time I replaced it I went with this one since it has it's own power wire that you connect to the battery. https://amzn.to/3NOu2Wc
This seems to have solve the problem of it failing, but only time will tell.
