Hello! I have a soon to be one year-old Tacoma that I bought with a remote starting option, but I have to use the app to use it. It was sold to me with a premise that it has a remote starting capabilities, given how cold the winters are here in New England. Today, however, I got a notification saying that certain service are expiring and I have to pay close to $100 a month to keep them going. Before I go to my dealer to inquire about this, I wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem? If this is true that my remote starting capability is going to disappear without me, paying for a subscription service Can you recommend me an aftermarket option to keep remote starting capability of the truck?

Same boat... My one year was up in December. The remote start option will still work from the remote or fob for free. $100 a month for the ap is bonkers. I think it is like $6 dollars or something low, but I'm not renewing that. So, if you want to start the truck from the ap, pay up.. but not $100. That's nuts.

You can still start remotely with fob.
Connect service trial expires after one year-be happy-less Toyota and others can track what you are doing.

    Another glass-half-empty, cannot-see-the-value-in-what-you-have person.

It still can start the truck in the driveway during deep-cold winter, or pre-cool the truck in summer. If you want better, find a professional installer who claims to install a better system that can override any Tacoma systems.

At some point in your life you need to be able to see partial value in something that is not perfect, and take personal responsibility that you can install a better replacement.

You can either buy a better one and be quiet, or do nothing to fix it just stop whining. Either way we get some peace and quiet.

I believe it’s $80 for the year, not per month.

Just get an SR5. H key doesn’t kill the truck when you open the door. :)

    U R lucky
Wish my TRD OR push start could do that
There is no way around this-no aftermarket starter can do that-only mimics u being inside the truck and pressing start button

I just don’t get why they can’t use the fob as the security measure. If you don’t have the fob, you can’t open the door or you can’t put it in gear. I think the fob tech has a ways to go.

Whining like a schoolgirl, repeating your complaints in here does nothing.

Only a child would rant in here and expect Toyota Engineering in Japan to pay ANY attention to us.

Someone who really wanted it fixed would take on the task of engineering a solution and sell it to us. Dave makes his own wiring harness to install LED headlights on trucks that did not have them. Christian makes his own tailgate anti-theft device. I can respect them.
