I've been playing around with the build tool on Toyota.ca and found a feature called "Hood Silencer". This feature seems to only come with the top two trims: "TRD Sport Premium" and "TRD Off Road Premium". Does anyone know what it is?

Also, does anyone know if Toyota allows you to add extra things to lower trims? For example, acoustic glass only comes on the top two trims. Am I able to pay to have it added to a lower trim level?

    Thanks!

Hood Silencer is the felt liner that goes on the inside of the hood.

Toyota won't let you 'build' anything.

Your best bet is to find what you want (or close to) on your dealers lot or on their list of vehicles that have been allocated to them.

If they don't have it on hand or coming, they might find close to what you want already stateside, and if lucky, a dealer may work out getting it transferred to them for you to buy.

    Best of luck.

This. Get on the allocation treadmill, get some monroneys to look at, take it or leave it. I do hear that dealers can get port options deleted, if they are not distributor mandated, but most will deny it or they really can't do it, not sure. Also dealers can move vehicles around, also not sure if that has to be a swap or just a move. So if 'your' dealer can't get the vehicle you want, maybe they can do a swap/move with another dealer that does have an allocation that is acceptable to you.

You won't be going through the Toyota website configurator and ordering your custom Toyota.

I think the concept of not being able to order a Toyota how you want it is misleading. Dealers can request changes from the factory on allocated vehicles such as color, interior, different port options as long as it’s early on way before the truck is actually built. So in essence your dealer can order you exactly what you want. This was true with our Corolla cross that we ordered. Dealership was able to change all the “options” long before it was built and the factory agreed to it.
