    Hello everyone,

I’m regearing my 2002 Tacoma, and installing solid pinion spacers. On the original it had this oil deflector (I think it’s an oil deflector) around the crush sleeve. Now that I’m switching to a solid spacer, this oil deflector will sit a little differently. Should I still use it? Or is it just not needed. I can’t find any information on it, and they don’t mention it in the instruction.

    thanks in advance

Looks like most of the assembly diagrams don’t even list this part, so I’m assuming this was only in some models and not essential. I’ll move forward assembling without it

Dumb question maybe? But does it slip around the crush sleeve or center on the pinion shaft?

It slips around the crush sleeve, but stops at the point it gets wider. Doing more investigation it might actually press into the housing under the race.

If it goes under the race it will effect the measurement. Besides that it was oem spec'd to do a job, I'd use it.
