I mean, a proper tune should create more power than it does right now. That's about the same right? :D

I’m worried the stock rods are already pretty much at their limit :anonymous:

Installed my haltech elite 1500, boomslang harness, and FiveOMotorsports 750cc injectors today. A big thanks to @05Taco4x4 and @Torspd for helping me with the tuning/setup. I still need to buy the wide band module for the haltech, but I was able to get it to start up and idle earlier, so we’re making progress!

For the install, I pulled the entire ecu out and used sticky Velcro and zip ties to secure it to the side. The fitment turned out pretty good and had just enough room to leave the usb for the Haltech plugged in.

Here are details on the injectors. These are the 750cc flow matched set from FiveOMotorsports

Btw have you looked into the uni clutch? I'm was hoping they had one for your engine application.

Should be a vast improvement once I can figure everything out. I am looking forward to building a good tune finally
I checked their catalogue online and it looks like they support the 3RZ, but I’d have to call them to see about 2TR support. Mines still hanging on for now, but I will definitely be exploring this option more when the time comes for a replacement.

Truck is running great overall. I still need to work on decel fuel cut-off and hot/cold starts, but it drives great other than some minor stuff. I can even cruise in 5th on the hwy now without having fuel trims being ruined by the stock computer, so the haltech is a win so far

Good to hear. Im new to tuning but I’ve read that those two areas can be tricky. Is it self tuned up till this point?

05Taco4x4 sent me a base file that I could use to get the truck started and it was a fantastic starting point. I’ve been tweaking fueling a little in the boost areas myself so that goes more quickly but most of the adjustment is coming from the long term fuel trims that the haltech learns. The only other change I made to the base tune was removing 3-4 degrees of timing under boost. The haltech monitors knock and will slowly add back up to 2 degrees if there is no knock detected so it won’t be optimized but it should hopefully be safe

the other area that needs work is the zone whenever you’re releasing the clutch and trying to take off in first gear. It dies really really easily and I am not sure what it needs. The delayed hot start compounds the issue after it stalls out and people are behind you lol.

    Lol. That sounds entertaining.

Might need some fuel removed during the hot restart?

lol it’s a good challenge, keeps your clutch skills on point so you don’t stall that bugger out

I will look into that, I think I pulled quite a bit already but I need to experiment some more to get it happier

Swapped out the emfs in my +2.25 JD uppers to 1” uniballs. I’ll be using the dirt king misalignment spacers for the Tacoma spindles, just waiting on that to come in. The lowers got the same treatment. The new coilovers have 600lb springs- it has 700s right now so I’m hoping the ride quality improves some. I also am looking to go from 3” of lift to the 1.5-2” range, but we will see where things end up
