    Greetings good people,
Non-mechanic here. Have a 2000 Tacoma 4cyl 4WD with about 260k miles. Have been talking with a local mechanic and it's become obvious the current issue (off/on run rough, losing coolant) with my truck is the head gaskets. I've put a ton of work into the truck over the years including rebuilt transmission, front end work, and regular maintenance. Would you get the head gaskets done if everything else was in good shape? Worth the cost, given the trucks age?
    Much thanks.

Yes, just make sure the price is fair and make sure your mechanic is prepared to check valve clearance and replace shims where needed as well
There's only 1 head gasket in your case btw

much depends if you plan on keeping taco
if you do plan on keeping
this is opportunity to pay for a plethora of 'wearable' parts and the labor will be included(only have to pay for parts)
from my conversations here, the 4cyls motors are pretty much bullet proof
i would lean to fixing properly
    or
just fix the HG and see where things go
