    Hello everyone,
I just had the front coilovers replaced in my 2008 double cab Prerunner, at 138,000 miles. She was getting bouncy in the front. It rides and drives dramatically better, but it's about 2 inches higher in the front now. I don't know if they're the right parts or what, they're an aftermarket brand that my mechanic always uses and he says they're the right ones for my VIN. The headlights are aimed way too high, and the dealership said the lights won't adjust down enough to be in spec.
My mechanic thinks the struts will 'settle' lower, but as an engineer I don't think that makes any sense. And I've driven almost a hundred miles and nothing has changed.
So my questions are: has anyone had this happen, and did they 'settle?' Are the other front suspension components adversely affected? And if I install 2" lift blocks in the back to level it, what shocks should I use? Will the driveline be affected by a 2" lift? Or are there better options for leveling the rear? I rarely carry heavy loads but I might be doing more towing soon, dragging cars with a tow dolly.
    Thanks.

Possible your mechanic installed the spring perches upside down, resulting in unwanted lift. What coilovers did your mechanic put on?

Springs do sag, but 2" seems excessive. I would cross reference parts numbers after approaching your mechanic in a civil manner.

Photos of the front coil spring would help, but this is usually the case.

Are the old sets still available. It would be nice to see them side by side.

Here are shots of the top of the spring. Does this show what is or isn't right?

No threads coming through the nuts is odd, likely quick struts style boxed assemblies, usually they come with new nuts.

We need to see the bottom of the coil.

We've seen boxed quick struts sit really high and have had to remove them in my dealer. No one knows why.

Here are the best shots I can get right now, in my garage. To be clear, I don't object to the lift per se. I love the way it's riding and driving, and we get street flooding here in Houston sometimes. A little more ground clearance can come in handy. If this isn't a problem concerning the rest of the front suspension, I'm happy with it. Then I just need the best option(s) for leveling up the rear. Once that's done I'll get the alignment checked.

Perch is welded to body on non adjustable struts. Possibly he got struts for a base model instead of the prerunner. I just ordered struts and noticed two different struts for different models. Suspect that the perch to bottom mount dimensions are different.

Probably installed 3rd gen coils. 2nd gens are about 300lbs lighter in the front and have lower spring rate coils because of this.

That sounds like it would explain it. Thanks. It does feel like a higher spring rate, now that you mention that.
My mechanic said they were correct per the VIN, but I know that you can't necessarily trust that. I'm getting a limited slip diff put in, and I told the drivetrain shop which one I thought it was based on the sticker in the door jamb, and the parts guy at the dealership based on the VIN, but both were wrong.
I ordered 1.5" lift blocks for the back. I can't even drive at night because the headlights are aimed so high and won't adjust down enough.

Did you check your rear leaf springs for sag? If they're worn out, then your rear end isn't as high as it should be.
