Whelp that was enough fun in the snow. Think its time to go back to hibernating the rest of the day

They havent run down most of the rounds around here aside from the interstate and its drifting pretty bad.

This filter is a straw. The company claims you can drink creek or river water through it.
    In an emergency, I would.
Preferably not the 1st to try!

I’ve got a 40l Osprey bag that goes with me in the winter time. Has a bunch of stuff (coveralls, hats, mittens, etc) incase you were to get stranded so you don’t freeze.

I haven’t used one of those but it would get the job done. I’ve got a couple sawyer minis that you can use with a bag or collapsible bottle and a platypus gravityworks which is the one I use camping and hiking

Oh there will be some mods all right
I have drank from creeks and rivers and even a lake or two before with life straws. I then switched to the ones that have the same threads as bottles so I could use it with sparkling water bottles or regular water bottles. Now I have a water bottle and filter combination that can clip onto a backpack.

I’m gonna have to get out the snowblower. There’s some pretty good drifts here now. About 8” here today

Such a rush to get home tonight and get my daughter to swim team practice I forgot to get a picture; but, I took the truck bed home on the flatbed. Get it wrapped up for the winter this weekend

As of 6:15 PM there is still no snow by me. What little snow I did get was washed away when it transitioned back to rain. The upside of @BookieBob and myself living so close to the lake I suppose.

Although I would like some snow as it makes for good photos, hiking, etc.

You didn't bring a towel? Never leave home without a towel.

Ronny Dahl is what's up. The thing about Matt's off-road recovery is it's an entertainment business. A lot of the stuff they do is sketchy and very dangerous and against the book. It's fun and exciting and a build some kick ass rigs but at the end of the day.... Don't try it at home. A good safe recovery should look boring AF.

While I don't keep a sleeping bag in the truck I do keep a heavy Harbor Freight moving blanket behind the seats for truck things. In the winter I also put a heavy wool blanket behind the seats. It's for ski patrol rescues and wasn't horribly expensive.
    https://cascade-rescue.com/wool-blanket/
I've used it a bunch camping on cold nights to add an extra layer. I'll usually sleep on top of the HF blanket as well if I'm in a ground tent.

I keep a tote in the bed with recovery gear, work gloves, a small tarp to lay on, and a backpacking stove, fuel, small pot and cup set along with hot cocoa packets. It's nice to come back after a winter hike and warm up with some cocoa.
Traction boards, small plastic shovel, and a small metal shovel that will dig through icy snow.

I always forget a towel or a pillow. You can use a towel for a pillow but not so much a pillow for a towel.

With the axle dump, if I leave the truck run long enough the snow will melt. :D heh
