A few weeks ago I brought my 02 v6 Tacoma into the shop cause of a cylinder 4 misfire. It was an electrical issue with a loose spark plug and bad wires so they replaced all the spark plug wiring and replaced throttle body to fix high idle. Recently I’ve been getting weird idling (it jumps 100rpms then comes back down every few seconds) then yesterday after an hour and some of highway driving it was getting more inconsistent and seems to be misfiring inconsistently. It’s most noticeable when I accelerate slowly. Like it’s jumpy when my foot is on acceleration lightly. I wonder if it has something to do with fuel injection. Any thoughts?

Hmm. I had it all done at Toyota dealer so I imagined they’d be the same

Next step I would check the wiring that goes to the coil to see I there is no nicks in the wiring. If that looks good I would do a compression test just to double check and have peace of mind that all cylinder have good compression

off the top of my head…when was the last time valve clearances were checked?

If it is reproducible at idle that is 80% of the battle. How mechanically inclined are you and do you have a scan tool?
