Has anyone run these without mounting to a apex or Baja style bumper from Allpro?
The description states that it mounts to their bumpers only. I called and they said the same. Just curious if anyone has had a different experience or made a simple mount for it to work with other bumpers. TIA

    Description says No

Company that makes them says No

You realize what you're asking right? I mean, not trying to be a smartass bro

It'll work if you can fabricate whatever method of mounting they use, otherwise No

JB Weld steel stick would probably make it work.

It’s a simple question I asked. Was curious if anyone has a different experience…..
Not sure how different their bumpers are to others (that have possibly made these skids and a different bumper work)

Well, simply put it could be due to the fact that the aftermarket bumper removes the mounting bar that sits between the frame horns.

I don't have an Allpro bumper, nor have I ever worked with one, but it's easy to see that there's a removable center section where a skid hooks onto and bolts up front.

Why not just buy it and fabricate something yourself?

Or look up pictures online of the setup to see the differences.

Why do I want to buy something that I need to work on, in order for it to work for my needs? There’s other options out there that are plug and play. Maybe that’s just me, but I don’t see the point in buying something just for me to need to modify it, for it to function. I understand in certain situations where that is needed. Only reason I’m asking is because they have them in stock ready to ship, and everyone else either has a waitlist or won’t respond to me whether they are in stock or not.

If you wanna make me one to go along with your stiffies I’ll gladly buy a setup as long as it’s reasonable on price

Hahaha you’re funny dude. You’re exactly the person I wasn’t asking for to comment on this post. I wanted feedback / answers from someone that had a “different experience” or made it work somehow

I get the desire to not modify it, it would be silly to but after seeing the instructions it's as I predicted - you end up removing the center section that the original skid plate attaches to.

My personal recommendation would be a Budbuilt -

I only had their front skid but they offer full protection from front and back towards the transmission

You kinda had me until this. You’re asking if anyone made it work, that immediately gets me thinking you’re willing to follow someone else who went to lengths to make it work, then come back with a snarky question about why you’d want to buy something then have to mod it to make it work.

You have your answer from All Pro’s website and confirmed it with a phone call.

I’d say it’s safe to assume it won’t work without modification.

I mentioned this to RCI years ago but it looks like they have no intention of making any changes.

Same here, about 3.5 years ago is when I complained to them.

They wouldn’t even update the website to state that it was designed for manual transmissions, which is why I try to spread the word here about the bad design.

Like said at the beginning of the thread.
Just get a bud built and be done with it. It provides full coverage unlike many others.

I personally have a 20 year old Demello skid plate, but I don't think he makes them for the 1st gens anymore. It's the only bit of armor on my truck that I didn't make myself.

That being said, many people make their own skid plates via the cardboard template method. It's probably one of the easier bits to build. Just need some 3/16 plate, angle grinder (with cut off and grinding wheels), a 110v flux welder, a drill, some drill bits, and cardboard.
