After a trip cross country (2 years ago) pulling a small trailer my Range to Empty has been off by at least 75 miles. It recalculates as the tank gets lower but it's never like it was before the CC trip. Can I reset something without having to reprogram/relearn the transmission shifting all over again?
    Thx!!

Just to clarify, when your fuel light comes on (~2gal remaining so roughly 30-40mi of range) it says 75mi? Or when you fill up it’s ultimately off by ~75 every time? Or does it say 75mi til empty with half a tank?

It adjusts based on your fuel economy throughout the use of the tank, and the fuel economy is notoriously inaccurate with city driving since the computer is bad at dealing with fuel consumption during acceleration.

"Miles to empty" slowly drops on mine ... sometimes the miles driven increases 2 miles for every 1 mile drop in remaining range. Then magically the "miles to empty" synchronizes with the fuel light.

Then I remember that my brain can calculate "miles to empty" fairly accurately ...

i know in my wife's rav4, you go to the setting on the screen where you have your speedometer to the average fuel economy and long press the center button to reset and that usually does the trick. I forget if Tacoma's can do that or even have that.

That thing is worthless. My truck always reads about 13.5 mpg, but the expected range at every fill up is 385 mi or more. which is more like 19 mpg.

In actuality I get around 15 mpg and only about 285 mi per tank. Ive reset it a hundred times and it never is right. Its really useless.

My 2017 had a range to empty of like 385
My 2022 has a range to empty of like 310

Nice to see (but also not) that the consistency of inaccuracy is not just me hah

It’s funny how Toyota gets this so wrong when other manufacturers can just about nail it down perfect every tank.
