So I’m getting pretty tired of my 2.7 but I still like the 2nd gen look. So I’ve been thinking since I have a good amount of money for a down payment on a used truck, I could upgrade to the 4.0 V6. The only downside is that I keep seeing taco pickups with 150k plus miles. I know they can last a long time but my plan is to supercharge the truck. Would the v6 be able to handle a supercharger with that much mileage or should I look elsewhere?

It can be done yes but you are taking about supercharging a 10 year old vehicle and the increase in power isn't a whole lot for what you have to pay. I'd pass

Going from a 4cyl to a V6 will make you feel like it's supercharged.

I wouldn’t be concerned about mileage, but I would look for a truck on here that’s already supercharged. Buying a new one will probably cost over 7k after taxes, shipping, and installation

The super charger will look cool and add operating expense, but in terms of HP/$ it's not real great.

If you buy a higher mile used model as you're thinking, pay for a pre purchase inspection that includes compression and leakdown testing. That will go a long way to answering your can it take and SC question

    Probably.
    Some sell already supercharged.
Theres low miles for sale. Normal miles. And above normal miles.

At the end of the day they either did their maintenance or didn’t.

stock V6 is still more power regardless of if supercharged.
