Not really, we were passing through the area and stopped in for a few days. We knew we were early for the whales but we were hoping to catch one arriving early. None showed up while we were there though....

Technically, my truck is in the photo. Just from a unique perspective. Winter camping in the Eastern Sierras. Down to 9°f outside last night. Coldest I let it get inside was 20° before I kicked on the Kovea Cupid. Also had an electric blanket, and a hot bottle in my sleeping bag so I stayed nice and toasty.20240109_062728.jpg 20240109_063308.jpg

How do you stay alive with that heater? Not trying to be smart- I have the exact same one. I used mine in single digits a year ago and had to keep all the windows open just to keep my CO detector from going crazy! It seemed like for as much heat that little thing puts out I was having more cold air come in from all the ventilation necessary not to die.

I do use it now for times when I can't/too lazy to have a campfire, but still want warmth outside my camper.

I keep a window cracked and only put in on for short stints. Doesn't take long to heat up the short bed.

Nothing like 9.0" of fresh wet snow in the bed to bring leaf #4 on-line and then she delivers "that Cadillac Ride". No jitters, no hops, no "whoop-de-whoops" over speed bumps with with bump-stop bangs, no washboard drama... and it's quieter inside too....

...then it's all gone and back to normal in a couple of days. It's a truck and doesn't pretend otherwise. No big deal. I like the old-school ride.

Hey Dan! As always, love your pictures. They're so crisp, well framed, and have (what seems to be) the perfect amount of editing. Been reading a lot of your posts on the AdventureTaco website to try and learn more about how you capture these trips & moments so incredibly. One of my goals for 2024 is to enhance the documentation of my trips, installs, etc. and you've provided a ton of inspiration and helpful guidance. That's my long way of saying thanks for the content! Looking forward to seeing more pics and reading about your adventures.

Thanks Nate, glad you've enjoyed what I'm spewing out there. There's no secret except luck, really ...though I suppose I sometimes get luckier with practice. Snapping a ton of photos and then dorking around to see what "looks good" to me afterwards (and then dialing back the saturation, since we all seem to have a tendency to oversaturate) is the entirety of my "magic sauce." Oh, and I try to copy the output (or framing) I see from folks like @mk5, @DVexile, and some of the other guys who actually know what they are doing! I kinda-sorta wrote up my process here, and it largely hasn't changed since I did. The tools have changed though - some of the new masking in Lightroom (Classic) is amazing - cuts down on editing time by an order of magnitude.
