I'm having a weird electrical system issue. This morning, I had the windshield replaced at Safelite (rock impact too big to patch). As part of that process, they re-calibrated the camera for lane departure warnings, which is the normal procedure on any windshield replacement AFAIK. Since then, the truck seems like it won't turn off accessory power.

If I turn the engine on and off, it stays in accessory power when the engine shuts off(head unit stays on). If I cycle through power modes with the engine off / foot off the brake, it goes to accessory, then ignition on, then the mystery "off/accessory" mode. The dash LCD doesn't show "ACCESSORY" like it does in actual accessory mode, but the head unit stays on. Also, the key fob doesn't work to lock/unlock the car, and when I exit the truck when it's in "off" it does the "key not found" warning beep.

Any idea what's going on? Safelite says their before and after OBD2 scans show no problems. Also, disconnecting the battery didn't change anything, and both key fobs show the same behavior. At least the lane departure warning still works. ;)

Do you have anything plugged into a cigarette lighter outlet? I left my GoPro charging from a usb charger that I had plugged in to the cigarette outlet and it was doing the same thing kinda. Kept saying the truck was on even though I had turned it off. Must of been back feeding into the truck or something I have no idea but it was really weird.

The first problem is.. you went to safelite. I also made that mistake and it resulted in almost $7k in damages to my truck due to their incompetence.

take it back, talk to the manager, tell them there’s an issue and then you goto a dealer or another shop and safelite foots the bill.

As much as they jacked up on my truck… they shockingly didn’t have any issue filing a claim and covering all the repairs through another shop.

It was indeed Safelite's fault. They didn't seal the windshield correctly, and it leaked, causing damage to the wiring harnesses (dealership quoted $12k to replace the affected harnesses). They're haggling with the dealership now about paying for it, so hopefully they cough up to cover what they did. If not, at least insurance will cover it, though I'd be out the deductible.

The service advisor at the dealership said they do see occasional leaky windshields from all the local glass shops, even the one that they use for their own glass work, so it doesn't seem there's much I could have done to avoid it. :(

Hi this started happening to me last night. I had my windshield replaced about a week ago and it rained pretty hard last night. It was fine, I got back from a 2hrs drive and noticed the same issue. We’re you able to get it fixed?

I'm also looking for a solution here. But for me, I just replaced my battery and now I'm having this issue...

UPDATE: Troubleshot my issue, it's not exactly foolproof, but my truck works now. *knock on wood*

Brooooooo!!!!!! NO WAY!!!! It was the electric handwarmer I had plugged into the cig outlet. I was racking my brain all day trying to think of how this could randomly start doing this. Hopped on TW and scrolled by your comment. Immediately went out and boom it works now. Thanks god! And thank you!

Hey I commented on another of your replies. Hoopefully you saw what fixed my issue. I pulled the cig usb out and boom my truck works now. Had an electric handwarmer that must be a cheap knockoff on it. Maybe it was feeding into the truck somehow?

I've had the issue twice now and fixed the symptom by pulling various relays in an attempt to reset them. I haven't found the problem relay, though.

I actually just had the issue come back a third time this weekend. I ignored it (just jumped my battery instead...) and magically it fixed itself today while it was parked and I was out and about for a handful of hours. It's perplexing and frustrating.

Thanks for the feedback. Did they let you know what they fixed or swapped out? I take it you had similar symptoms?

Anyone have a schematic of where that switch feeds in to or know where I could find one?
