I have a 2023 Tacoma sr5 4x4 and I was wondering if anyone had a problem with the rear speakers?
When I fade to the rear the volume is not as loud as when the fader is moved to the front speakers.
I went back to my original salesman looking for help and he says it’s normal, but I have not been to the service department about it yet.
Has anyone else noticed this issue?

It’s normal , the rear speakers are pretty much worthless.

If you’re in the back seat, all 6 speakers are in front of you…so they’re 'somewhat' balanced for the rear passengers. The rear passengers will hear the tweeters on the dash from back there. The problem is that the whole system is so underpowered in general that rear speakers are just there for ‘fill’. Take the fader and push sound to the fronts only and you’ll hear a slight loss of bass and some ‘presence’.

I just put a whole new system in my 2023 Off Road and I removed and blocked off the rear speakers and used 4 channels of my 5 channel amp to power some Audio Control component speakers. I don’t miss the rear speakers at all. My 2 dogs don’t mind either as they’re my rear passengers 90% of the time.

If you just get an aftermarket HU (head unit or radio) the difference will be noticeable. Add some aftermarket speakers and, oh boy! Add an amp and a sub and you’ll not want to leave your truck.

    Normal.

It is such a waste replacing the rear speakers with aftermarket speakers.

This is why I wired my rear speaker wires into my underseat Powered Sub. It only needs a low level signal to run the amp.

Oddly the HU from 2016 sounds like it has more power from the rear. I think in 2019 they upgraded? And more pronounced and accurate bass than my 22’ “gracenote”. Both non JBL.

Your best bet is replace the front speakers and tweeters and get a decent head unit. And the difference will amaze you.
