Cringey? That’s one I haven’t heard yet. IFS running 11 inch suspension lift and 3 inch body because I like cringey.

Fair enough, but with this kind of thing, if you have to ask it’s probably not for you. Personally I don’t see why you wouldn’t just SAS with a lift like that just from a functionality perspective, but like you said, to each their own.

You expect us to believe you have 11" of IFS suspension lift, that stock has available down travel of less than half that?

Your pic is clearly a drop bracket or similar frame cutting lift...

At least you don't get water in the cab, though. And no short chicks, presumably.

IDK why you kids love to talk so much shit on how others built their truck. It can be 20 inches tall and it don't bother me. It's their truck and money, who gives AF! If you don't like what you see or read, move on.

Entitled Tacoma owner's around here

Same could be said for a sas. If you're asking the basics it's probably not for you. There's countless builds on here of folks running top of the line desert racing setups on rigs that probably never leave the pavement. Some folks like bling, some folks like to be sky high, some folks like stretched tires. Not saying you have to like every build. To each their own. We're all enthusiasts.

    Agreed.

Some like bling, some don't. Some like anodized blue Kings and will never go offroad, while others rather buy Fox ADS etc. Some built it for look with rims and all the brolander stuff. Some put on snorkle and light bar and take pictures with all the lights on during the day.

I personal seen DB tacoma go through gnarly obstacles while very capable built tacoma with all the blue bling use bypass to avoid scratching their rig.

Who care, let it be. :humble:

Reminds me of taking my stock rig to an offroad park. The looks I got were hilarious. Even without an E-locker, you can go further then you think.

True, but the OP's tone made it sounds like he was trolling.

There's those that built based on needs & purpose and there's those that built based on influence, trying to fit in.

My reason for choosing IFS vs SAS is because of the handling difference. Specifically when it comes to steering. I’m on an island and everything is small. Being able to turn on a dime is everything to me.
Now that I built my IFS rig though I would love to build a turbo 3.4 SAS for when tight turning isn’t necessary…

I believe further up in this thread I mentioned that I have a 6 inch drop bracket which lowers the lower control arms 6 inches. The diff drop I custom built on top of that lowers the diff for a total of 7 inches.
A stock 2020 Tacoma shock is 2.5 inches longer than a first gen Tacoma shock. 1 inch longer shock makes 2 inches of lift… I’m using 6 inch extended 2020 shocks. Transfer that to a first gen and you get an 11 inch extended shock. When I run 33s they aren’t even in the wheel well. 40s can turn from lock to lock without rubbing.

Interesting, sounds like a lot went into that setup.
What springs are you on, and are you using stock control arms?
I understand the extended shocks, but those don't provide the lift/travel on their own (they accommodate it).

What is your total combined lift after everything? (Like how much distance from hub center to fender did you gain?)

Travel wise it is the same as stock. Springs are rough country 2020 Tacoma 6 inch extended coil overs with the first gen top hats put on.
Rough country diff drop and a custom 1” diff drop stacked on top. Custom gussets spindles did by yours truly. Carrier bearing dropped 1.5” and stock driveshaft for front and rear. 7” leaf springs in the rear 2” lift blocks and 4” shackles. As of 40 minutes ago I now have a bud built traction bar I overly modified installed.
For the motor I gave it some ARP head studs and MLS head gasket, threw on a supercharger, 2.0 pulley and 7th injector.
With my 33x14s I get 12 mpg and with the stocks I get 16 mpg

No build page. Consist of lots of cutting, bloody knuckle, sweats, hair pulling, and stress along with one off parts and time I could not get back.

I would love to do 5.29 gears but for the sake of being able to replace third members and not break the bank I have to stick with stock. Cost wise it’s way to expensive to regear every third member I go through. I usually go through a 3rd member every dozen burnouts.
