You've been running with a light on for 30,000km?

Some failures can cause damage to other systems.
Take it to a different shop than you have been dealing with.

My truck spews out white clouds when it's cold out. It doesn't do it when it's warm out though only when it's chilly but no other cars have the "steam" coming out of the exhaust. Could something be messed up and it only shows itself when its cold out? Or am I just being paranoid?

yes with the light going off and coming on regularly. I just did an 8day 3900km trip and had awesome fuel mileage and the light was off 1/2 the trip. Idles fine... a friend had a code reader and reads cat. Gonna check it again tomorrow and order the passenger side O2 sensors. Gonna replace the plugs and PCV as well as make an apt to have all the drive train and transfer oils change too.

Wondering if I should run Sea Foam as well.

Kind of disappointed with the light just the same.

I bought her new Dec 2004 and keep up on all the maintenance other than this damn light. Got hosed for a $1200 wheel bearing at the dealer so trying to avoid them.. Should have bought the Blue Pit Bearing for $300 and replaced it myself

A lot of the time when the old " Puff of Smoke after sitting idle " happens is because of Valve Guide Seals leaking oil down the valve stems into the cylinders. Worst case you may need a head job I mean Valve Job.

This is normal for all cars & trucks. It is called condensation and is coming from the catalytic converter:

In a catalytic converter, the catalyst (in the form of platinum and palladium) is coated onto a ceramic honeycomb or ceramic beads that are housed in a muffler-like package attached to the exhaust pipe. The catalyst helps to convert carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide. It converts the hydrocarbons into carbon dioxide and water. It also converts the nitrogen oxides back into nitrogen and oxygen.

See the water statement above? That is the source of your cloud of vapor when it is cold outside.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
its actualy a ecoboost in disguise.

I wouldnt stress over it, its new.. It will either turn into nothing or be covered. :) cheers

Fuel is generaly black btw, oil is USUALLY blue/white.. it would have to be oil, on fire to make black

also, being new it may just be learing its fuel trim etc, and when you start it between cold start etc it might have just fed a momentary little splurge of fuel

Not so much an 11 year old truck, but an 11 year old thread!

Old threads aside, if the last time you ran it (before the rich start), if you only ran it for a few seconds, like to move it in the driveway, when you shut it off, it was still running 'start-up rich'.
I've had this happen a few times over the years, even with my wife's van. It concerned me until I thought back to the previous time it was started.
Don't sweat it unless it continues to do it.
