Stereo replacement with screen

I'm looking to replace the radio and cd player in my 2007 tacoma with some type of screen. I just need somthing simple to mirror my phone to by usb so I can get navigation. I'm also thinking about getting a digital media receiver unit so I can connect to bluetooth. Any recommendations are appreciated!

When in doubt, I get on crutchfield, see what fits, and read their articles on that. That hasn't steered me wrong yet.

One thing to look for, if you have an iPhone, mirroring is tricky. Look for CarPlay or Android Auto. They will give you nav from your phone. Most headunits nowadays have USB as part of their function, so that should be fairly straightforward.

Last recommendation, stick with the big boys, KENWOOD, Pioneer, or Alpine. Brands like BOSS are not worth the headaches.

KENWOOD makes solid gear. I’ve had my DMX906s for 3 years, and going strong.

 

I’m about to buy the same unit through Crutchfield. Any initial thought or advise from your install? Does the original mic in the Taco still work with this?

 

Finally installed it and I love it so far. I got the free option for the install kit with the dash kit and metra wiring harness and it was all pretty easy to install. Mine came with an extra piece my truck didn't need and some of the directions were a little confusing, but I was also doing it all for the first time and eventually got it up and running. The unit works great with android auto. You do have to keep your phone plugged in for Android auto and there is no port in the dash kit so you'll have to diy some stuff. Overall really happy with it!

 

Sweet deal! Glad you’re happy. If you really want to DIY, and have it look factory, this thread is the way to go. I followed it, now I have 2 USB ports for my truck (AA and CarPlay).
