Something you don't usually see on a brand new vehicle. There is a group of wires on the harness that runs along side of the battery that are just cut and taped up? Why would Toyota put wires on the harness then just cut them and tape them off?

    Just looks odd to me?

That's not cut wires thats a splice, there are quite a few of those throughout the vehicle but they are typically wrapped up in the harnesses.

By the wire color those are grounds (White/Black wires on Toyota are almost always grounds).

They are cut and terminated. Yes they do appear to be ground wires.

Yea, if you were to cut the heat shrink off you would find that they are either crimped or soldered together.

They would show up like this on a wiring diagram.

    it's actually very common.

on the ford's that we upfit at work, there's at least 4 locations i know of off hand that appear like that, and are either splices, or are upfitter connections for various integration functionality.

the part you're looking for for a factory connection is the sealed heat shrink on the end with the blob of adhesive coming out. most aftermarket connections won't look like that.
