Been thinking about getting some bolt on sliders and have read a few threads that mentioned there is always debris that get between the mating surface of the slider and the frame. I have also read about how over time the mating surface on the frame may develop rust due to abrasions getting in there and rubbing away on the paint surface.

I was thinking about putting some sealing tape like the ones offered by 3M
    https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/p/d/b40068339/
on the surface of the slider and covering the entire thing where it bolts onto the frame like the example image.

Just wondering if those who have sliders would think this would work or not.

    I'm thinkin'

    UR over thinkin'

Maybe double nutting the mount bolts

Or adding anti seize to threads

I would not worry about the mounting surface

These are White Knuckle sliders..LX 470

You will get beat up on shipping

I had my sliders on about 4 years. Took them off. Very minimal surface rust. Looked like rest the frame. Not really any scratching in-between. Put on a couple coats of paint before mounting sliders again. Bing bang boom. Plenty trails, waterways, and rock sliding use.

Spray the mating surface of the frame rails and sliders with a couple thick coats of cosmoline and call it good. Dismout them every once in a while and check the condition of it, touch up as necessary.
