As some of you guys know, I volunteer at a senior dog & cat sanctuary. Many of our residents come to us after their owners pass away and either don’t have provisions for the pet or their survivors don’t want (or can’t take) the pet.

Without going into a lot of detail about our resident’s circumstances, I wanted to urge you to set aside money in your will/estate plan and plan for your pets. Talk to your family/friends. We set aside funds for the care of our pets when we pass away, and have had the talk with our (adult) kids.

I just wanted to pass this along, since a lot of people might not think of this.

Here’s Elvis the beagle and Louie the chihuahua mix, our newest residents.

I bequeath my truck and my Xbox to the dog. The wife can have my tools, since a dog would have no use for such things.

I actually did this last year and set aside funds. My dog means everything to me.

He gets a box of toys from Costco weekly, a bath every week with a $30 bottle of Duoxo S3 PYO shampoo, lots of treats and an occasional steak on the BBQ.

He has his own lazy boy recliner too. He lives better than a lot of people.

I hear you, buddy. I put my kitties in my will.

Sadly, they're both gone now. :(

    I highly recommend it.

    Great post, my friend :)

    On a sidenote, I don't think I've ever seen a happier dog. :)

He's some type of American Staffordshire/Pitbull mix. He's got a long body and long ears though. Not sure where that came from. I just tell everyone he's half couch potato and half mooch.
