Officially sold my first 2 online on FB, and 3 locally already over the last week and a half

    Here's 1 kit -

Fair to say I should make a few to keep on hand; had a lot of interest in my welded variety but they're still in my possession. Not a bad thing though, they're awesome to look at :D

Needed an all in one welding dolly by Monday, so $60 northern tool hand cart and some scrap metal and this is what I got. I’ll add more to it after this job to make it better but this will get me by

i might have to steal this idea! i've been trying to come up with how to use a tank, and a small welder, in a garage with zero space for a normal welding cart

It’s great for that! We use these mostly for process pipe welding inside the plant, there can be some tight spots you have to get a machine to and this setup makes it a lot easier

yeah, i've been easing my way into trying to convince the boss to try the primeweld welders for shop use(mostly trying to get him to switch to something that doesn't use proprietary consumables), right now, they insist on having the big pain-in-the-butt roll around welders with the stupid wheels that get stuck on microscopic dirt.. this might be another step towards that as well!

Old post I know but I wanted to provide an update that the sword has been through countless practice sessions and was also used in the latest tournament a few weeks ago where they won; the repair is still nice and solid:muscleflexing:

Father in law cat got stolen. New cat had flanges so I used it as a new opportunity to scan the part to make a file. The days of paper template is over for me once I get faster at it.

Put the plasma table to use for the first time with a practical purpose.
    20240114_124231.jpg

Then it's was an easy mig job of tack in place and remove the piping from the vehicle to do a full weld.

I need to find some time to get the cut settings down. Anyone happen to have one for a mach3 handy?

Cut settings would be dependent on your plasma cutter.

Trying to figure out the best way to make a "removable handrail"... Our stair case is narrow, and while remodeling, we've had the relative luxury of not having a handrail in place. This has made it very convenient to get furniture up and down. The boss signed off on the overall design of the new handrail, but asked if I could make it in a way that we could easily take the whole thing off. It's a fair request.

    Thought #1 (1.5"x1.5" Section with 1"x3/16" tabs, 1 screw/nut per side)
    upload_2024-1-15_11-29-55.png

    Thought #2 (Just 1"x3/16" plate with 2 1/4" screw/nuts):
    upload_2024-1-15_11-52-9.png

Thought #3 (Use 1.25" to create an inner sleeve for the outer 1.5")
    upload_2024-1-15_12-13-20.png

This creates a small gap that I would have to try to either fill with 1/8" plate and grid to find, or maybe nylon... custom PITA either way... I think the advantage of this, would be to do it on all four sides so it was more solid, but the internal weld would make that hard.

I am leaning towards #2. Thinking I can make a jig like this to locate the tabs on the plate and have good access to weld them to the base plate...
    upload_2024-1-15_12-22-11.png

Other than not making these removable, am I overlooking something more simple? Thoughts?

Obviously if I thought about this more last week, I would have hit up @Kwikvette to cnc the plates and tabs with a keyed tab and hole in the plate.

But I've already got the plates cut, holes drilled and countersunk...

Guess I'd want to see where the handrail is going to make the best suggestion but I'd say something with a 'slip style' since the handrail, once mounted, should fit the space occupied entirely.

I think number 2 is the cleanest and most simple to replicate.

Another way is for the base to be thick and to use threads to fasten to the bottom plate.

If you welded a nut or something you would have to clock it. It would be easier to show you what I mean, but I’m probably not going to CAD it out. I usually just doodle on graph paper.

I think #2 it is... But I need to go get the 1" x 3/16" flat bar (cutting the 3" flat bar I have on hand for the plates into 1" strips sounds miserable).

    upload_2024-1-15_13-29-17.png

Jig with locator tabs. Just clamp that down with the plate on the fixture table, and send.
