Living on the front range and we've had sub zero temps all weekend.
High of zero for the last few days.
Started the truck the other day and received ABS and Brake system warnings, but brakes function fine. The warnings stayed and have not gone away.
Turned the 4WD high off last night on the way back from the mountains then got a 2WD-4WD failure message when I tried to go back to 4H. So had to limp it back in 2WD.
Anybody had any experience with computer issues during cold weather?
If so, did it come back after things warmed up?
Currently stuck in 2WD and that sucks.
    Thanks.

We saw a lot of random issues. Most related to batteries barely starting the vehicle and the voltage staying low for longer than normal.

Sub zero f is really cold so ya be patient and it will warm up soon. We are close to freezing again. Practically summer!

As mentioned above, I wonder if batteries are causing these messages... The tacoma control systems seems to be very sensitive to partial battery capacity.

Fellow front ranger here, no issues related to warnings or failures last few days. However my 2021 made a very loud noise for about 2 seconds on those cold startups, like a pump struggling to turnover or something, but it went away quickly and didn't cause any issues driving.

If your messages aren't going away, especially after today now that were above freezing, I would take it in somewhere to get checked out.

A battery blanket (if available) might be a worthy addition to any vehicle that routinely experiences temperature extremes as described by the OP.

You could try pulling the Negative battery cable for 5 minutes which should reset the ECU. If it still won’t go into 4Hi there could be a problem with the ADD Acuator.

Western Maine, below zero is pretty normal 9 year old battery. I can tell you this the electric shift needs to be exercised pretty much year round, use it or loose it. Every so often I shift to high range on the road in the summer and shift in a out of low range on my dirt road. Frankly give me lockup hubs and a stick on the floor.

Yeah, you can buy electric heating pads that go under the battery... Like a little electric blanket. Not terribly expensive. I plug mine in when I know it's going to be sub-freezing for any length of time.
Back in the day, when you could still buy incandescence bulbs, the redneck way was to get a 100w 'rough service' bulb in a drop light and stick that under the battery tray. Not as good as a heating pad, but still effective.
But it didn't take me long to realize that keeping the battery warm was way more important than trying to keep the engine warm... Like one of those block heaters or things that splice into the lower radiator hose.

Update. Speed sensor issue. It just happened to be coincidental with the hard freeze.
Likely it's corrosion in the plug connecting the rear speed sensors.
Dealer also wanted to replace both back hubs for a total of $3000. 2nd opinion pending.

    New question.
I swapped the original 16" wheels for 17" and then upsized my tires to 265/70. (Blizzaks, great in the snow and super smooth on the road btw).
So is there something I should be doing to update or calibrate the speedo?

Hypertech & Rough Country seem to be the same devices, one is a lot less dollars. They do not correct the Cruise control setting.

Dang, it sure has been corrected. Just installed the updated version and all displays correctly. Sorry for the mis information, I’ll have to go back and correct other threads.
