It's nice when someone posts a helpful comment. I have been having shifting issues with my 2023 TRDOF since I bought it last January brand new. I have had the dealer look at it a couple times and say its fine. They did reset the learn values and that did nothing. I have since contacted Toyota and they are in contact with me on getting it looked at again.I actually had mentioned to the dealer about checking the transmission fluid levels and he pretty much said it was a long and tedious process. I feel like that is the only next step but I just get concerned anytime a dealer touches my vehicle. Don't trust them very much. Most dealers in my experience are shady.

Also, I am assuming it is shifting and driving better now?

The adaptive cruise control can apply heavy throttle if you have been behind a slower vehicle and it suddenly clears. That can cause it to downshift a few gears and hit a higher than optimal RPM during break-in. Having said that, it won' hurt anything.

When we picked up my wife's 4Runner 3 hours away I did exactly that. It startled me when it applied full throttle and down shifted a few gears and hit 4k rpm. It didn't hurt a thing, but I did turn off cruise for the rest of the trip. :D

Bottom line is to just drive it and avoid extreme acceleration etc. In other words follow the recommendations in the manual.

Yah, I RARELY let anyone touch my trucks! But since it was brand new I didn't want to touch anything to give them an excuse to not take care of it

The key is find a good tech! Years ago, I was having some issues with my 2nd gen and we couldn't figure out what was going on. He actually called me and let me come in the dealership shop and we got an endoscope and went through the engine together. He spent hours and hours on it. Billed for one hour.

Demand the dealership check the ATF level and have them take video or pictures of them doing it.

I'm thinking about calling Toyota to see if they will extend the warranty on the transmission.

I have a friend who is a retired Toyota engineer. He always told me that "metal memory" is real. He always drives his vehicles like he stole them when they are new. If you drive like a grandma for too long then engine gets used to that load. Then if you start pushing it later you will have issues.

That makes sense. I still like to break them in easy for the first 2000 then run it harder and I do push it after it's nice and warmed up.

Driving like a snail for long periods of time probably could cause issues - my wife is in slow-and-go in-town traffic every day back and forth
to work I make sure I take her Forester out on the freeway at least once a week and give it a good run. Been driving like this for 50 years,
yea I'm that old, and it seems to have served me well.

Check your U-Bolts. Started putting on my lift and right side U-Bolts we're hand tight.

I drove mine for about 5 hours after I bought it. I switch up the speed so not to keep it constant, but I think you'll be fine. I haven't had any issues with my Tacoma.
