The day/night I'm going to sleep in my own bed finally, going to leave the bedroom windows open all day so it can air out regardless of how cold it is outside. Also change the bed sheets.

That should do the trick... Hopefully.

 

Took the Ridgeline to work. FWD, good snow tires & a heavy cap on the bed made for a well behaved truck in the snow & ice. The AWD system never kicked in, but the ABS did.

 

Maybe use up a can of Lysol on everything including the remote control (top & bottom). Good Luck!

 

Definitely planning on using Lysol wipes on just about anything in there.

 

Good frigid morning CT. 19° outside right now. We got about 4 inches, changed to rain/sleet midway through the day.

I just bought one of those sometimes they work expandable hoses so that I can make sure to wash the underside hopefully once a week if the temperatures allow! I am parking the truck in the garage for the winter which at least gives it a chance to dry out after driving in the salt/snow every night thanks to a dehumidifier, fans, and temps in the high 40s. Starting fall 2024 I will definitely be undercoating in woolwax black or fluidfilm black, I just did not have the materials ready in time this year

And parking in the garage has me so spoiled. Getting into the truck when it is 15F outside but 45F inside the garage. It is like a mini paradise

 

I went the cosmolene route. Sometimes I will hit a carwash and pay for the cheapest touchless that has the underbody spray...apartment living . I can not stress how nice having a remote start is for that reason. By the time I get in the car in the mornings either the heat or AC have been on for about 10 min.

 

I am not risking a remote start in a manual since I tent to leave the truck in gear when I park. Before the taco I had a TDI which I installed a frost heater in which keeps the coolant warm rather than a block heater just keeping the oil pan warmish. It was amazing turning the car on in the morning and having hot air blowing out of the vents immediately.

 

Thats completely fair. I didnt have remote start in my first Tacoma which was a manual as well - although in fairness I am sure the remote start tech has come a long way since then and I would have to imagine there are failsafe's in place for that exact reason.

 

Then I will also be miffed if such a fail safe worked and the truck didnt actually remote start. I will say that I do thoroughly enjoy the auto hvac where the blower motor does not turn on until there is actually hot air to push out of the vents. Considering the newest vehicle I owned before the taco was a 2003 jetta TDI, I will say that is quite nifty.

I hate driving on the salty roads
I have a small spot of rust coming through the passenger bed side I discovered this summer . My body shop says easiest and best thing is just replace the bed side . I guess they just bolt on I was told . My rocker panels have already been replaced and the floor is in good shape . Estimate for the bed is over $3k Not paying for a new truck so ……….

My wife said that when she canceled the Charter cable internet, they were telling her that fiber is glass and if it breaks it's expensive to fix, that it's not reliable, blah blah blah.

Quite the opposite now.
Inexpensive to make (it's glass), pretty durable,tolerant, and easy to troubleshoot compared to the stuff we had to work with originally.
The fusion machines used to splice it are pretty good now. All ribbon fiber compared to loose tube which we had to splice each fiber individually. It's come a long way in recent years and continues to evolve.

You can buy just the side you need and save a bunch. 3k is for the whole bed.
