Haven't made a thread since 2014 and haven't posted since 2018. Traded the taco for a 4runner and then got into the crawler scene. Just picked up this gem for a steal to give the 360k mile 4runner a break from daily duties. Bought it needing a transmission. Happened to have a 340F from a 5VZ I bought to swap out the 3VZ in my Crawler. Slapped that in along with a set of 63's and been enjoying the heck out of being back in an xtra cab.

    3" Body Lift
OME Shocks and 881 or 883s up front.
Chevy 63s and some junk rancho shocks in the back.
Custom rear bumper, sliders, and front winch plate.
    OG Corner light blinker mod
33x12.5r15 KM1s (need to pull the date codes for fun)
Slapped my badlands winch off the crawler on it while it's down for an engine swap

Any pics of how you mounted the winch? I have a 98 and would be interested to see the bumper integration!

All kinds 3 inch body lift/2 1/2 suspension lift. 31/11 1/2/15 tires All work done by myself for years. The only work performed by mechanic was fuel pumps. I also have a 90 Mustang 350 hp and I can never understand how come my Tacoma gets more respect Just got a 99 Jeep TJ that I rebuilt, and painted in the garage
I'm wondering about the black lower trim. Decal or aftermarket

Was the transmission toasted or did it just not shift properly or was it a manual (aka toasted)?

If it was auto try to replace the solenoids. Unless there is grinding gears, replace them because they tend to go out around 250k.

It was slipping pretty bad. It could probably be fixed I'm sure. I wrapped up the old trans and set it aside for a maybe someday rebuild.

It actually came as a package deal with a Trail-Gear SAS kit, but I will probably leave it IFS for the time being. I've got an SAS P/U and plans for a buggy, so an SAS tacoma is a couple rungs down on that list.
