I recently purchased my 3rd gen taco and had a question about rubbing or need for trimming. I searched the specific question and didn’t find any solid answer. so Im getting a 3 inch bds lift coil overs and the whole 9 and I ended up with a 4.22 backspace on paper would that setup cause rubbing or need trimming
There’s are the wheels I would like run https://www.stealthcustomseries.com/collections/toyota/products/gen5?variant=39469672038453
    17x9 -38mm 6x139.7
And these are the tires I’m thinking of https://simpletire.com/brands/micke...5-70rr17&userRegion=4&userZip=35649&zip=35649

    Enough for now
wheels and tires will fit, may need a CMC/CMR post lift and alignment to clear the cab mount when turning at full lock.

the -38mm offset will likely rub without trimming

How much trimming would be suggested would you say it would be minor or major amount ?

Every truck is different. Could just be a little off the fender and fender liner, or a lot it really depends. I would recommend the CMC as well, tires aren't cheap and you don't want to ruin those badass Mickey Thompsons!! (I have the same tires but in 255/85/17)

Those wheels have a very aggressive offset. You'll likely need a CMC and there will absolutely be trimming of plastics.

FYI, SCS makes the exact same wheel with a -10 offset... you don't get as much lip, but you'll have a much easier time fitting them.

Why go with a nine inch rim and over -30 for a set of 265/70's? You're pretty much at maximum width there.

I'd take the 8.5 @ -10mm, and it would fit fine and look better.

    17x9 -38 = :sawzall:

I second what others have suggested with the 17x8.5 -10

    Cole,

If you're only planning to run 265/70/17 tires, I would recommend doing just a 1-1.5" lift and running our 17x8.5 -10mm spec. The fitment will be a lot better and the look will be more proportional. 3" lifts tend to look best with 285s are taller tires. With 265s, you just need to remove the front mud flaps and do some light liner trimming.

    265 for less cutting/trimming/hammering than a 285

In my opinion, 8.5 wheel is the sweet spot for a 265 width tire. 285's would be able to be barely shoehorned in, and a 255 pizza cutter would be able to be barely stretched in. The largest selection of tires happens at 265-70R17, which is where most people go. Its a sweet spot of size and performance, not to mention that tires of that size are cheapest compared to the more oddball sizes. Put it on a 1 inch lift and it looks pretty nice plus there's not a whole lot of penalty that comes with it.

With that offset, your no rub/no cut options are

    265/65r17
    265/70r17

    255/75r17
possibly 255/80r17. Most people report no rub at 0 offset with this one, some people say that there's no rub at -10. Every truck is different, no-rub not guaranteed.
