I’ve searched on here many times and decided to join. Have a 2020 SR5 4x4 Crew XL in gunmetal grey blackout. Have about 18,800 on it so far. Took it Elk hunting in CO this past fall and never had a problem.

Except for one small issue I need to report more broadly… the radio. The FM radio cuts out after about 5 minutes and you have to hit seek to get it back on. The really wierd part was I was in Houston in a 2023 Tacoma and I experienced the exact issue.

Welcome! I'm not a fan of the head units in these trucks as they are very slow and laggy ... completely ridiculous to me that you have to wait for a damned FM radio to "load" SMH. I've never experienced your issue though.

Do you have the shark fin antenna?

Mine does and it doesn't grab radio stations like the whip.

I guess it depends on the station. Mine will lock into an analog signal almost immediately, but it takes several seconds to acquire an HD signal. And that's in the middle of the city. If I'm on the outer edge of a station's reach, forget it. It will constantly cycle back and forth between analog and digital, with the briefest of cut-out between the two. That drives me batty.

I'm at the point now that if I'm not in range of my hometown presets, then I'm streaming on bluetooth. Once in a while I'll use the trailer radio to scan for local flavor when I'm in camp, but I have long since stopped doing that when on the open road. There's just something about modern head units that take the fun out of that.

Haven’t had this issue on my 23. The lag thing is real though, it’s like it’s working off dial up internet!

I'm not sure what the lag issues are or if i have them. My issue is that I turn on the radio and everything is fine. Then about 5-10 minutes in the radio just goes silent. Then I noticed the exact same behavior in a 2023 rental SR5 Taco in Houston. Just thought it was weird that the radio would just quit after working fine for 10 minutes. The solve is to hit seek and it comes back on without forwarding the station and seems to keep working after.

Don't have the JBL setup and I've been wanting to install a subwoofer. Already replaced all the speakers with Infinity Reference but kept the head unit. It was a wonderful upgrade from stock speakers but the bass is lacking. I installed a set of Kickers in my wife's SUV and her bass is way better. But then I don't have a new head unit or an amp to power it all. Could be the speakers, likely the head unit difference. Now I'm considering a new head unit.
