I do this. I work 12 hours Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat, Sun. Then next week I work Wed, Thurs. Day shift only, my night shift career has ended.

Only work half the year (minus holidays and 5 weeks vacation :anonymous:)....I love this schedule. :)

I get what you’re saying and agree it can be difficult to deal with “the company”. Check your states public records requests laws. Sometimes there are loopholes you can exploit. Here in Florida we have pretty liberal records requests laws. You have to fill out the correct forms but you can get a surprising amount of information from public and private companies.

Soooo apparently if an air over water fire system sprinkler line gets water in it, and freezes, it'll burst. Then the fire alarm goes off and the fire department shows up. Made for an interesting last hour at work... :anonymous:

Hope you got to the Fire Pump in time. That gets right crazy in subzero temp’s. :goingcrazy:

I had to respond to the local nursing home once because they had a sprinkler head between two sets of doors to the outside... and that sprinkler head popped due to the subzero outside temps... but the inside doors were covered ( to keep people looking inside or out) and it took them awhile to notice... and of course the water flow alarm didn't seem to alert anyone. The shut off for the water main was over a city block away. Cluster ... the whole afternoon

Brutal on F/C systems any way you look at it. Rubber components shrink, the ever present water freeze threat. Winter & water just doesn’t mix.

Yep... Someone hasn't been checking the drops regularly and condensation builds up from the air charge.

Water expands about 9% when it freezes -- a black iron pipe or fitting expands about 0% for reference... :D

I was responsible for the ancient sprinkler system in two equally ancient buildings, I learned a lot about sprinklers -- the hard way naturally.

These were about 4 miles away from my building so I wasn't there every day to keep an eye on things. Counting on someone else to actually be aware of what is going on doesn't really work all that well.

About a year after I retired (in January) that lack of attention caught up with them, the system blew a 1/2 dozen heads & fittings - made quite the mess. Not having a clue how the system worked they called me and I went back to work for a few (quite profitable ;) ) hours of being an instructor.
