Definitely had better days. Carefully deiving along minding my own business, I hit a patch of ice, slid across the oncoming lane of traffic missing another pickup, and slammed up an embankment pretty good. I was able to turn so I drove back down it rather than rolling.
The bumper took the impact surprisingly well, though it is bent. I have noticed the radiatior is bent as well as other mounting components around the front end. Drivers side steering is all jacked up. Broke a headlight, dented the snorkel. I won't know the full actual damages until I can get it up on a lift.
    I do hate winter.

Tires like that give my glutes a good work out. Clinched the whole ride home.

    Glad you're ok.

Sometimes ice is going to get you, no matter how carefully you're driving. Glad you're OK and didn't get seriously hurt

But.. keep in mind those mud terrains are a poor choice for winter highway driving. I say this as a avid snowboarder that has driven up into snowstorms on a daily/weekly basis for over 20 years

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I bet you were so scared a finishing nail couldn’t have been hammered into your ass.

Agree with the worn MT tires not helping the situation. If I lived up north that has to deal with winter weather often, I would run a spare set of skinny winter rated tires. But in tx, we deal with ice so I know the feeling. Hope the frame is not tweaked but glad you are ok.

I'd suggest Toyo Open Country AT3's or Goodyear Duratrac's.

Wet pavement can be just as bad. In October I was driving on a narrow, curvy rural road only about 2 miles from home. It had rained in the early morning, but this was about 4 PM. The road was still slightly damp due to overcast conditions all day. I coasted through an S curve doing about 20-25 mph. As I came out of the last curve onto a straight section of road I pressed the gas pedal only to have the rear of the truck break traction.

I attempted to steer into the skid but it was too far gone. I slammed onto the brakes and did a 180 degree spin and off the road heading in the opposite direction that I'd come from. Fortunately, into a spot where there was no ditch and only a dirt bank. I got out, found no damage and pulled back into the road and drove a short distance until I could turn around and continue on home.

I have to believe something oily or slick had to have been on the pavement. Where this happened is a short distance from a spot where the county has a dump station for people to take trash. Lots of traffic on this road hauling off trash.

Bummer, been driving in ice the past days a few hours south of you. Had chains on Wed/Thurs.

i encounter black ice where i'm at during the winter... it is hardly visible during the early morning hours before sunrise... which makes it super dangerous... keep your speeds down and maneuver slowly... if you're lucky the County may have sanded the road (for better traction) ... most times not...
