Really appreciate you sharing your build and all the info. on it. Plan on reading it more carefully today. Why did you switch away from the BJG's? I like the looks of the painted alloy wheels! I am going to recheck your post and see if you mentioned how you prepped the wheels for painting. Thanks again for the pictures and all the info!

    Thanks, man.

I was a big fan of the original BFG KOs but really don’t like the KO2s. I think they’re ass in the snow. Although they still sit in my 98.

I have Goodyear Ultraterrains (Discount Tire exclusive) on the 04. I love these tires, especially in the snow.

Prep for my wheels: had them media blasted, wiped them down with acetone, then use Zinc Chromate primer. Topped it off VHT wheel paint (satin black).

I loved the Goodyear Adventure ATs before. So I decided to try these Ultraterrains. For my needs they might be the best tire I’ve ever run.

Great/quiet dry roads. Great on wet roads and awesome in snow.

Only did a very moderate trail on them (no airing down) and they were totally fine for me.

Great information from all of you!!! I'm leaning toward Duratracs now. Someone near me is selling tires and wheels for $600. The wheels are alloy OME. Thinkin' about these. Love seeing all the different builds with all the specific names of parts and equipment. It has given me A LOT of ideas. I loved that front bumper on Frankenstein and Madjik_man, now you got me wondering about The Goodyear Adventure AT. I'll check them out. Thanks again for all the info to chew on!

I loved the adventure terrains. Would do them again 10/10 times.

Now mind you 99.5% of my driving is on road and I don’t do gnarly trails.

Plus Discount Tire is currently running a $125 rebate on Goodyear tires for Pres Day

Have all your painted/dyed parts still held up well? Do you wished you clear coated any of it? Really considering painting everything black like you did

Held up just fine. Some of the high traffic area (like the top of the console where you rest your elbow) could use a new coat.

I wouldn’t do a clear coat. Harder to touch up IMO.
