I have this feeling that your "poll suggestions" are super NSFW - just a guess but

    YEA YOU ARE!
I need a grill operator STAT!

    And along those lines:
I got a co/worker who is moving to Italy.
He has some nice grills, one of which didn't have a home.
It is some webber kettle grill competitor [nice cause homie don't buy shit].
It is coming to live with me for the next year [at least].
I ain't ever had a charcoal grill so I'm excited!!
You can also smoke shit on it - whoo hoo -
Of course it is gonna be cold AF for a bit, just to ruin my good time..

Ask him to use his electric rolling probe up and down your points of concern. Tell him to treat you with his most neurological aggression possible. :fistbump:

oh. I figured there'd be more nuance than just the material.

    Sure :)
I'll do this from memory, so anybody feel free to correct any details.

When the AR-15 was adopted (as the M-16), the first pattern magazine was aluminum with a sort of waffle pattern for reinforcement.
This was found to be unacceptably prone to stoppages, and was replaced with this, the classic 20 round Colt magazine (made by Okay Industries):

Okay became the prime contractor, and immediately began developing a 30 round magazine along the same lines.
These began replacing the older magazine in the 70s.
They quickly gained the moniker "USGI".
Both USGI types are very reliable, and were further improved with anti-tilt followers.

The original thinking was that magazines were expendable.
Well, they are and they aren't... loaded magazines are bulky.
Stripper clips allow for carrying more ammo.

Famously, in the Black Hawk Down incident, US troops were resupplied with 5.56mm stripper clips packed in cases.
Being under heavy pressure, the troops had dropped most of their empty mags.
    Anyway...

So along came Magpul Industries with polymer magazines, what, 15 years ago?
About 8 years ago, the USMC adopted the PMag as standard, to be followed by all the armed forces eventually.

The Pros and Cons, AFAIK, boil down to mainly these:

    - PMags less prone to denting
    - USGI (aluminum) mags less prone to cracking (they don't)

I might add that PMags are usually a tighter fit in the mag well, so in some rifles they may require a tug with the off hand to remove.

Both types are sufficiently reliable, and I have some of each.

Personally, I like the 20 round classic USGI mag.
When sniping at groundhogs, I don't have to extend the legs of my bipod
