Are you talking about this doo-hicky that has to come off?

I've had no issues with the bushing binding or anything else.

Yes, it seems like that pin retains that bushing, or helps to anyway.
Glad to hear & thanks for quick response.

    Yes, it does/did.

Are you removing your gate at times and then reinstalling?

I've kept it on permanently...even installed the tailgate lock so I don't have to use my key to open it.

No, I don't remove my tailgate or plan to.
Nice, the key Is but a necessary nuisance, until my lock comes anyway.
    Thanks again!

I have the SaBellCo lock and haven't had any issues at all. Highly recommended!

I can see the existing bolts in this photo.

I thought torx security bolts are a good idea- but HF is selling a key kit for them that probably has every type there is for just $9. :annoyed:

I put security bolts on my Talon CAT Skid...of course, I over torqued one and now I have to "easy out" it and install the non-security bolts.

My concern would be the same issue with those star (Torx) bolts indicated.

I tell you...the things we have to do to prevent thieves from stealing from us.

I guess you could use regular ones and then drill out the hole a little to strip it so nothing but an easy out will work on it, especially if they’re countersunk.

Here it is! I've been putting off doing the "easy out".

    Maybe on next oil change.

Right. I find using a pair with a wider surface works better. Grip using the end with handle straight up from bolt not in middle.

    Funny enough...

I did try both vise grips.

The needle-nose were able to fit but the standard one was too wide.

I torqued that screw so much they would not budge.

You should start a thread on this one, Congrats on you invention. Looks like another viable solution to tailgate theft. So to clarify the bracket is $25 correct? is that powder coated or bare? Will be watching to see if it is sustainable at that cost. If I could get my cost lower I would but unfortunately everything has gone up. The best price for our product is not ebay or Amazon, it is direct from our site.

well stated! This product looks good (but is about 4 years too late for some of us), but should be on its own thread. It’s more of a competitor to the other members device that is mounted with a bolt versus being secured with a key.

There are kits for everything torque screw out there unless you get the keyed ones but the cost of them is not prohibitive. I used JB Weld in all the screws on my tailgate and made a washer from an old hard drive for the cable. Have my 2nd gen lock and JB weld in the torque screw. Added 20 minutes to remove the JB Weld with a dental pick and I think I stabbed my self like 3 or 4 times. LOL
