on my second battery on my 2017 Sport , it’s been cold here the last week or so and battery sounds weaker when starting now, so it seems the OEM batt lasts about 3 years, what battery do people like out there

I'd replace asap so you're not stranded. Suggest get any 24f lead acid regular you want. They're pretty much all the same. Check specs for cca and reserve at places like costco, sams, walmart etc. Get what seems good specs, best warranty and price.

this comes up all the time, just buy a name brand battery, there are allegedly few that make them for many names.
Most are going to tell you what they have, is the best.

By default, I replace my Tacoma batteries every 3 years. Cheap insurance for preventing getting stranded and cheaper than a tow truck service call. Before I invoked this battery replacement approach, my Tacoma batteries would only die on cold weekend nights when I was on vacation.

Whatever rebranded East Penn/Deka battery you can find up there in MA. Walmart or NAPA up there might be East Penn. Johnson Control batteries suck.

My go-to for years has been DEKA brand batteries made by East Penn Mfg in Pennsylvania.

NAPA batteries are made by EPM and there are stores coast to coast.

This thread reminds me. I think it's about time to replace my batt. Going on 4 years now and always stored outside. COSTCO is my go to store.

Temperature where I am was getting down to 15 degrees and I have been making frequent short trips. Had to use my jump box to get home from the store a couple of days ago. Put my charger on it and it took a while to switch over to Maintain so I know it needed to be topped off. Truck starts right up now so I assume I have a little more life on my 5 year old Toyota battery. Even I don’t have much life left I always have my jump box in my truck.

Batteries have a nasty habit of crapping at the worst possible moment.

I would consider that as my courtesy warning and just replace it.

Your jump start might have started your Taco but it also probably added a few volts to a battery that might be no good. I wouldn't try to save a buck. Just get a new battery.

I bought my 2017 in 2018 and am still on the same battery. I always tender/repair it if it hasn't been driven. I did a battery test, and I'm getting 12.20v - 471CCA out of 585. I was almost considering getting another OEM battery till they said it was $ 329 CAD+tax, but still, we're pushing seven years now on the OEM.

Do yourself a favor and forget the OEM battery. No advantage or reason to go that way. Go to Costco or C Tire and get one half the price with a good warranty. You're on borrowed time with good luck so far. Unless you really need to save a buck I wouldn't.
