Hello everyone I just installed some new upper ball joints and then put some 285/75/16 tires on 3rd gen rims. And now the tires touch the upper control arms. Is this due to the ball joints not setting properly or the backspacing on the wheels? What do you all think. I had some 2nd gen wheels on it before with a 265/75/16 and it was fine.

The tire width increased and the inset decreased slightly, Thanks to @splitbolt for the specs on the second and third gen wheels. I do believe it’s due to your new 33s and changing your backspacing will help. I run the same tire size on -12mm offset wheels and have only a tiny bit of rubbing on the frame on full lock, but my wheels allow a lot of space between the ball joint and tire.

I just realized the tires are about 3/4 of an inch wider, Thanks for the info. Looks like a 1 inch spacer might be in my future. I don’t want to buy new wheels or tires at this point. Definitely not a daily driver. It’ll be something I drive maybe one time a week
