I'm getting an arb rear locker installed next week, I have a single cab 2.7 5 speed run 32 inch e rated wildpeaks and a camper shell, anyway I asked the gear shop doing my install if I should regear since they'll be in there, he said switching to 4.88 from my stock 4.10s would only give a very minimal advantage as far as rpms go so he basically said he personally would think it's not worth the money

Sounds like the gear shop guy you talked to doesn't have a clue.

I’ve got the same truck, similar setup and tires. Regearing was the most noticeable thing I’ve done. If you do any kind of mountain driving I’d think about going to 4.88 for sure!

Well, considering highway driving is maybe 5% of any driving that I do, I’m gonna have to put this one on the back burner for now! Would ideally like to do a rear locker at the same time which costs more. The knowledge has been super helpful either way and at least now I can keep track of what I’ll need.

May or may not have just ordered an ARB bumper instead :D Been dreaming of one since I bought the truck 2 years ago

5.29 only comes in thin ring gear. From the factory, your gear set is 4.10 and is thin ring gear.

    Regarding the carrier.
You guys are talking about the front diff, right?
I was told a v6 carrier was needed for the front only, rear is not an issue.

In my case, I'm going 4.88s

I've got a 2.7l 2WD 5 lug with the 4AT running on 32's. Is the stock ratio 4.10 on these as well? Would you recommend the 4.88 or higher?

Not entirely sure what stock ratio is on 5 lug 4cyl, but I would imagine 410 is it. I think with 32’s that 488 gear would be plenty of power for it.
