    Morning PA! :pccoffee:

Road in front of my house kept drifting over with snow last evening/night. Was entertaining to watch people go from 60 to almost a dead stop. It's a wonder there wasn't an accident...

UPS delivered my LCAs Friday. Dude called me and asked if I was home because he wasn't hiking up my driveway if I couldn't sign for them. I'm like no, but I did sign your slip from yesterday. He said shit. I said sorry about the driveway! I don't clean my driveway for anything ever, I shovel out the windrow the plow makes and go on with my life.

Still glad I made the decision to go with a set of studded snow tires. While ATs might be okay 90% of the time, that 10% of the time is damn near impossible. The township does okay, but Penndot keeps the interstate clear and says fuck all the back roads.

My dogs have spent more time outside than inside. They think they're huskies or something.

Good morning PA. A light snow is still falling this morning. We got close to 5 inches. Speaking of roads, ours is a narrow one, with a hillside drop-off and no guardrail. My daughter's friend was bringing her home about 11 p.m. on Friday night and he slid on an ascending hill with sharp bend. I think the guy had bald tires although our road crew didn't come by all weekend, so a low sitting car probably would have trouble climbing that hill. I heard our township finally hired a 2nd worker, but I didn't see either this weekend. It seems like even basic services have gone to hell over the last few years as few want to work.

There's a couple big towns close to me where they just straight up deleted the public works dept. So now none of there roads get treated. Mind you one of the towns is just million dollar homes. Trumps gold course is also in that town.

The hills around here make that tricky. It's also wood covered and it's not unusual for a resident to remove a fallen tree before the road crew gets here. :D

Well this is an interesting turn of events. Roof is ice damming at the top of the roof and leaking through the AC return vent... o_O

So, it isn't ice damming. Took a peek in the attic and with the temps being cold for so long the heat is going up the vent and causing moisture thus dripping. Also need to relocate where the fart fan in the bathroom is venting as it's icing up that part of the wood on the roof. Need to also replace the boot for the vent stack too apparently, unless it was old damage.

About $100 to route the fart fan ducting to the outside and another couple hundred to get the roof boot replaced. I don't do roof work at all. Hard to work holding on with both hands

Lucky you didn't turn out to have dams. My house would get those and it would drive me insane. Having to rake the roof, then climb up with a shovel is not what I want to be doing EVER.

I went metal roof on the house in 2020. Never again.

Home ownership can be rewarding and frustrating at the same time. This one has been frustrating more often than not

I have a metal roof and ice dam problems. The rain gutter catches the snow as it slides down, it piles up at the roof edge, presto. I put gutter heater in the gutter and downspouts, so far so good (about 15 years).
