Replacing this piece and having a tough time getting the new piece in. There is this lip that’s not fitting back in place on the left side. Anyone know an easier way to get it back in place?

Now I’m having difficulty getting this clip to go back in place…

Little bit of this and that
The instrument bezel has to come out for the center section to go back in. Then the bezel will lock onto that lip when you put it back in. Pain in the butt, but that's how it goes.

honestly it’s pretty tricky. For mine I loosened certain hardware for room and pulled back at the same time using left hand on the cluster trim to sneak the HVAC bezel in and connect the lip.

then popped them into position after

    Exactly my thoughts.
And when you deal with mapping or videos, you want all the ram!

I questioned this when I bought the Atoto head unit. Maybe the higher storage for a front camera recording would be better however for my needs I don't need more than the minimum. I still have youtube and internet access. My music is attached with a thumb drive and the NAV works flawlessly.

Have a black 2005. Want to plasti dip by emblems. Recommendations on color? Black on black? Or maybe gunmetal or charcoal? Black/blue?

You can remove the black plastic cluster surround pretty easy like someone else mentioned.

Some of this writeup explains it.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2nd-gen-gauge-lens-replacement-how-to.258285/

Only takes like 10 minutes and unplugging the switches in the plastic panels is the most annoying part.

    Thanks.

It's all preference but I like matte Gunmetal/Charcoal on Black for that added dimension black on black doesn't offer.

I appreciate the info. I’m currently driving around like this until I can find the time to put things back together.

    IMG_8289.jpg

I did also find a video online that shows how to take it all apart and put the piece I’m having trouble with back on properly. https://youtu.be/bh_SmWsSZH8

Husky front mats installed. Still waiting on the rear mats to ship. Really nice upgrade.

I had the same Husky liners in 2 different trucks and combined they had 360000 miles on them and were still good when I sold the truck.
