I just replaced my head gasket in my 1996 Tacoma 3.4 V6 and while putting it back together I just released I misplaced some of the bolts used to hold the camshaft down. I am really struggling to find a part number or name for these bolts to either order online or preferably take to local auto parts store to find. IE Autozone, NAPA, advanced auto, O’riellys. In the manual that I am using it’s called a bearing cap bolt but I am having trouble finding them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Cam cap fasteners, they likely are out of production and cannot be ordered.

I'd simply take one off and to a bolt supply store, have them match it up and carry on.

You kept the bearing caps in order, right?

I will take one of the bolts I do have and take it to NAPA tomorrow and see what I can get matched or close to it. Are you taking about the metal caps below the shaft? The video I am watching said to label the caps with letters or numbers which helped me put them exactly back where I found them but they all look exactly the same. You’re not the first or even second person to warn me about that. If your taking about the metal retainers caps on top that hold the camshaft in place they were already labeled and I put them back in the order just like the manual said.

    Damn
    That sucks
Those bolts, besides exact length/width, they have to have same tensile strength
Pretty important per the movement of the cam….etc

1-I would A.D.D. it and tear apart garage looking for said bolts
    If no luck…….
    2-make a old mechanic’s day at a dealership….show/explain your problem.
They probably have a bucket of fasteners next to their $10k snap on tool box
Tip them $20 and talk to them
    3-junkyard

    Update*

I found them! They were mislabeled and out of order in my box of ziplock with engine parts. I appreciate the everyone’s advice. Anyone wants to make a million dollars you can start manufacturing these bolts because I can’t find them anywhere one the internet
