the only 'better' bushings available are usually poly, which is significantly stiffer, which just means that it absorbs less, and transfers more energy to other components, resulting in the known issue of the front crossmember cracking. which is a lot more expensive and intensive to replace.

i would consider this one a fluke, get toyota to do their warranty thing and get an OEM replacement. if that fails, then further analysis of the situation and the suspension components involved would be worth looking into.

The factory mounts themselves are a fine part and do what they are supposed to do. The issue is trucks seem to be poorly assembled at the factory, such as the body being slightly off-square from the frame. This puts stress on the left front mount and cuts up the rubber pretty quick. This is why when removed they always look bad. That’s when people start blaming the “junk” stock mounts.

I had to crank on my fender pretty hard with a pry bar to get the bolt and new mount all lined up on mine. No way that’s good for all the fender metals over time as it puts stress on them, especially on bumps and stuff, but it is what it is.

The long term fix would be to loosen all the mounts, find a way to straighten out the truck so that the front mounts naturally line up at rest, then snug all the bolts. Sadly somehow that is not how they are assembled and extra unnecessary pressure inevitably ruins the front mount on plenty of trucks.

I will say, regardless of mount condition, it’s very rare for the mount to actually be the cause for a noise. Not impossible, but clanks and such up front are almost always something else. There is enough rubber in the mount that whether it’s cut or not, it shouldn’t really be making any noise.

If it wasn’t installed correctly at factory it will prematurely wear out

Quick update for the better. The creaking noise is gone. It must've been from the cold as it's in the 20-30's today. Past several days has been 0-10. So feel better probably just needs some lube. Really didn't see any proven upgrades for body mounts either.

I used poly bushings on my 1st gen and it made the ride feel a lot stiffer and seemed to transfer every vibration to the cab. No thanks.
